LOLA Makeup used to be available in Marks and Spencer, but it’s now available just on their ownwebsiteand I featured aselection of their productsa few years ago; all of which are base products. I haven’t tried anything else from the brand since I first tried them in 2016, but I was kindly gifted three products to try by LOLA Makeup and I’m really impressed with them. LOLA Makeup is a British designed makeup brand which was designed for professional makeup artists with products which are densely pigmented with innovative formulas.
“Our Mega-Volume Mascara has the power, intensity and drama that your lashes need! Instantly add definition and length with the first stroke. Instantly add definition and length with the first stroke. With a deep colour and creamy, silky micro-fibres, lashes appear thicker and curled. Add long-lasting volume to your eyes using the specially designed, ultra-thick brush. Plus, the advanced formula contains conditioning ingredients that protect, moisturises and care for your lashes.“
The Mega Volume Mascara has a nice, natural bristled brush which tapers and is my favourite mascara brush design. I find natural bristles to work better for those with shorter lashes, and silicone or plastic bristles work really well for those with naturally long lashes. I really like how sleek this packaging is, with a tapered lid which might look strange but it makes it really easy to hold and apply which I guess is why LOLA Makeup chose that specific design for their lid. The formula contains vitamin E and olive wax for conditioning the lashes, d-panthenol for moisturising, bamboo for regeneration and rice wax for skin and lash protection. LOLA Makeup recommend positioning the wand horizontally, starting at the roots of the lashes and doing a zig zag application method. It’s definitely a volumising mascara, and makes my lashes look a lot more dramatic with a super intense, black matte formula. It’s comfortable on the lashes, doesn’t smudge with very minimal flaking and is easy to remove.
“Our Automatic Eye Pencil delivers precision application every time, with a super slim, retractable tip. The gel-like, non-oily formula with plant-derived waxes glides smoothly along your eye. With vivid long-lasting colour, create dramatic winged looks or sleek and clean lines that hug the lash line. It also comes with a handy sharpener on one end so you can always apply it with accuracy with even colour coverage.“
I really enjoy using automatic, mechanical eyeliners for my waterlines as they tend to have a more precise nib which glides across the eyes without tugging the skin. This swatch is one single swipe and as you can see, there’s no skipping or patchiness – it’s fully opaque in one swipe. In fact this swatch was a nightmare to remove, which hopefully speaks volumes on how longlasting the formula is. Described as being waterproof and smudgeproof, both of which I have to agree with as it doesn’t budge unless you use an oil based eye makeup remover and it’s just so smooth to apply with its creamy gel-like formula. There are six different shades on offer, and this is 001 Classic Black, and it’s the perfect matte black eyeliner.
“Our Love Matte Liquid Lipstick is the liquid lipstick that your heart desires. Your lips will love the punchy vivid colour, whilst it locks in moisture and hydrates the lips with jojoba oil and shea butter. In four statement colours, this luscious lipstick dries into a gorgeous matte finish without drying your lips. Once it’s on, it does not budge for kissable, smudgeproof, pouty looking lips. Plus, the highly pigmented shades are also blendable as a cheek stain, for a natural blush. What’s not to love?“
The Matte Liquid Lipstick Love Collection includes four different shades; First Date, Strawberry Peck, Desire and Lust, and I have the first shade First Date which is a berry toned pink. The formula is almost identical to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, with a lovely light almost whipped formula which does feel weightless on the lips. The doefoot applicator makes application both quick and easy, and it dries down very quickly. The tube is pretty small with just over 3ml of product, but it’s opaque in one swipe so it’s still going to last for a decent amount of time, especially as you can get away with four hours wear before needing very minor touch-ups. I’ve not tried this shade as a cheek stain as it’s a bit too bold for my skintone, but I reckon it’d look beautiful on medium to deep skintones as a cheek stain.
I’d love to know if you’ve ever tried anything from LOLA Makeup before?
