Zest of Alice Review of LOLA Make Up
Happy Friday and February! Hopefully, February brings you a whole lotta’ love!
Have you heard of Lola Makeup before? I hadn’t before I was contacted by their lovely PR team spreading the message about their new brand! Designed in Britain by a creative team of beauty experts and make-up artists, LOLA makeup brings professional, cruelty-free make-up to everyone so you can become your own beauty expert!
LOLA strives to show us gals how to create our best look by providing us with great professional products and tools as well as helpful tutorials via their online and social media channels.
I was over the moon to find out the products are cruelty-free whilst I was doing some research into the brand, I think it is so important these days for products not to be tested on animals! The tutorials and blog posts their team have put together are great and very useful too. I was very impressed with their easy to use and navigate website plus the range of products.
I received four items from the range which included a nail varnish, a lipstick primer, a lip gloss and lipstick. The packaging and branding are absolutely stunning, very luxurious and classy. It’s good to see that it’s paper packaging too and not plastic for recycling purposes. Very good first impressions!
Tried & Tested
I’ve never used a lip primer before this so don’t have much to compare it too but what I can compare it to is using a lipstick without the primer. This is a colourless universal primer enriched with waxes which condition the lips upon application. It helps colour to be applied effortlessly, plus smoothes the surface of the lip.
As a result of the lips being primed, LOLA claim the lipstick is less prone to smudging and you get the best colour finish.
On application, it is indeed very smooth and silky on the lips, it does feel a little waxy but not too thick. I used it with the lipstick I received from LOLA and found it worked amazingly better with the primer than without. Without, the lipstick dried on my lips quicker.
This primer has a smooth creamy texture that is conditioning, it also contains an oligopeptide known to help trigger collagen synthesis.
I really liked the product and will definitely be making a day to day product in my routine! It’s well worth the price.

2. Matte Long Lasting Lipstick (£11.95)
After officially being turned to the Matte side, I do love a good Matte lipstick when it’s textured right. There’s nothing more I hate than a dry lipstick. I was sent ‘Velvet Rock’ which is a deep plum colour. This is a very velvety cream lipstick which provides an immaculate matte finish and intense, enduring colour. This range has been nicknamed the ‘ultimate long-wear lipstick’ by professional make-up artists as it has a blend of polymers and emollients which provide a smooth appearance and fuller looking lips. It’s non-drying and moisturising since its formula is enriched with Vitamin E and Jojoba oil. I absolutely adore this lipstick and am desperate to try the other colours now!

3. Ultra High Shine Gloss (£5.95)
Despite being turned into a Matte lover, I am still a sucker for a good gloss. This Ultra High Shine Gloss formulation is based on a hyaluronic acid filling, giving volume to the lip in just one application. It also includes an active vitamin complex that helps protect and moisturize the lips. I loved this product, especially the colour and it gave me a fantastic finish, however, I wasn’t a fan of the product tube, I think it made the product look cheap I much prefer a proper brush to apply lipstick I felt like it when everywhere around my mouth on the application!

4. French Manicure Innocent Pink (£6.95)
It’s not often I use nail varnish now as I either get gels on or acrylics but I thought I’d give this one a go as it’s been formulated with Expert Gel III technology which is specially engineered to ensure fluidity, as well as high gloss and resistant wear. It’s very easy to apply and gives an intense high gloss finish with a short drying time, and contains UV filters to prevent discolouration. It’s a gorgeous pinky nude finish and it looks very natural. After a week it stayed on with minimal chipage! Love it.

In conclusion, after giving each product ago, it’s left me wanting more from LOLA. I can’t wait to try other pieces from their collection! I think each product I tried has been fairly priced and it’s great value for money and quality. Budget price, high end quality as they say. I’d really recommend LOLA Makeup!
